After all of my lovey-dovey posts about how much I adore CrossFit, you probably weren’t expecting me to take a break already, were you? Yeah, me neither.
After going to the box for 5 weeks, my knees finally told me they had had enough. I can barely walk up and down stairs or squat to sit on the toilet without a lot of pain. With the Disneyland 10K and Half Marathon just three weeks, I finally came to terms with the fact that I needed to take a break.
Holy cow. I move in 9 days.
So with a move in 9 days and a trip to California in 20 days, I just don’t want to risk further injury. I want to enjoy the races in Disneyland without reaching for the Aleve.
I’m feeling guilty and lazy and sad for taking the break, but it’s what my body needs, and for once, I’m going to listen to my body. I’ll get back to a normal CrossFit schedule in September when I’m all settled in Orlando again. Until then, I’m going to take it easy as best as I can.
